My name is Angelica Ajanel and “I Dream to” … work as a comedian like Jill-Michele Melean.

I was inspired to want to work as a comedian because I like comedy and I enjoy laughter.  I got interested in the work because people would tell me I’m funny and in the 8th grade, I won class clown. My mentor, like me, was inspired to do comedy because everyone would tell her she was funny.  She has encouraged me to speak out, never give up and to follow my dreams.

Here is my interview with her:

Q1: DO YOU ENJOY WHAT YOU DO?

A:I looooove what I do.  You have to in this business.  There is so much rejection.  To stay strong you MUST have a strong spiritual grounding and really love the craft.

Q2:WHO INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME WHAT YOU ARE NOW?

A:Carol Burnett, Paula Poundstone, Madeline Kahn, Tracey Ullman and Benny Hill.

Q3:IS YOUR CAREER COMPLICATED?

A: It is absolutely complicated.  You can’t just sit around.  You have to constantly self-motivate yourself to stay fresh and be in high demand.

Q4:WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

A:My first paid acting job was touring for the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami, FL.
My first stand-up paid gig was at a casino in the middle of the desert in Arizona.  I performed to old people smoking cigarrettes and playing keno.  After, I got chased by a coyote to my motel room.  At the time it wasn’t funny but today it’s hysterical!

Q5:WAS THERE ANYONE WHO HELPED YOU TO GET WHERE YOU ARE AT NOW?

A:Yes, my Mom and my step-dad.  They are two people that supported me and encouraged me.  Till this day, they are my rock … or rocks.  Actually, they are more like a sturdy mountain for me.
